I successfully marketed continuing <br /> education and degree programs as marketing director of Kenan-Flagler Business School. As a <br /> Chamber leader, I learned how many local businesses have immediate need for skilled, trained <br /> and/or certified employees and cannot find them. Similarly, my work on the CTE committee <br /> showed me how much opportunity and demand there is for technical and job training that the <br /> school system simply cannot provide. As part of my own work, I provide writing instruction in <br /> companies and through DTCC s Small Business Center, giving me a firsthand view of the <br /> importance and impact of adult/continuing education. Finally, I m the granddaughter of two <br /> college administrators, a teacher and a librarian, and my mother worked for ElderHostel at UNC <br /> for years.
