10 <br /> 1 <br /> 2 ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> 3 PROCLAMATION <br /> 4 EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK <br /> 5 MAY 17-23, 2015 <br /> 6 <br /> 7 WHEREAS, the Orange County Emergency Medical Services System is a vital public service; <br /> 8 and <br /> 9 <br /> 10 WHEREAS, the members of Orange County Emergency Medical Services team are ready to <br /> 11 provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and <br /> 12 <br /> 13 WHEREAS, access to quality pre-hospital emergency care dramatically improves the survival <br /> 14 and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury; and <br /> 15 <br /> 16 WHEREAS, the Orange County Emergency Medical Services system consists of emergency <br /> 17 physicians, emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, <br /> 18 telecommunicators, educators, administrators and others; and <br /> 19 <br /> 20 WHEREAS, the members of Emergency Medical Services teams, whether career or volunteer, <br /> 21 engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their <br /> 22 lifesaving skills; and <br /> 23 <br /> 24 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments of the Emergency <br /> 25 Medical Services providers by designating Emergency Medical Services Week; <br /> 26 <br /> 27 NOW THEREFORE we, the Orange County Board of County Commissioners, in recognition of <br /> 28 this event, do hereby proclaim the week of May 17-23, 2015, as EMERGENCY MEDICAL <br /> 29 SERVICES WEEK, with the theme of"EMS STRONG", by officially recognizing and <br /> 30 appreciating the Emergency Medical Services Providers that serve our community. <br /> 31 This, the 19th day of May, 2015. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Pelissier for <br /> 34 the Board to approve and authorize the Chair to sign the proclamation designating the week of <br /> 35 May 17 through 23, 2015, as Emergency Medical Services Week in Orange County. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 38 <br /> 39 5.
