13 <br /> 1 Commissioner Burroughs said Paul Laughton's suggestion is how the Board handles <br /> 2 other fair funding items. <br /> 3 Commissioner Burroughs said to take both CIS's funding out and put it in non- <br /> 4 departmentals. <br /> 5 <br /> 6 A motion was made by Commissioner Price, seconded by Commissioner Jacobs to take <br /> 7 the $35, 200 and put it into Orange County non-departmental for OCS. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 Commissioner Rich said the name of fair funding should be changed. <br /> 10 Commissioner Burroughs said the Board has carefully not had a fair funding <br /> 11 conversation. She said there are lawyers in the school world that think fair funding is not fair, <br /> 12 and County lawyers that think it is fair. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 VOTE: Ayes, 4 (Commissioner Price, Commissioner Jacobs, Commissioner Dorosin and <br /> 15 Commissioner Rich); Nayes, 3 (Chair McKee, Commissioner Pelissier and Commissioner <br /> 16 Burroughs) <br /> 17 Motion passed <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Commissioner Jacobs Fairview Community Watch $2000 <br /> 20 A motion was made by Commissioner Dorosin, seconded by Commissioner Price to <br /> 21 approve $2000. <br /> 22 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 23 <br /> 24 Commissioner Jacobs Piedmont Wildlife Center $2000 <br /> 25 A motion was made by Commissioner Dorosin, seconded by Commissioner Rich to <br /> 26 approve $2000 for this Center. <br /> 27 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 28 <br /> 29 Commissioner Price Center for Home Ownership $22,000 <br /> 30 A motion was made by Commissioner Dorosin, seconded by Commissioner Pelissier to <br /> 31 not fund this item here but rather to have a contractual relation with them. <br /> 32 Bonnie Hammersley said the Housing Director has weighed in on this issue and does <br /> 33 support funding this organization and recommends working closely with them. <br /> 34 Commissioner Jacobs asked if this funding can be done as a contract rather than as <br /> 35 outside agency funding. <br /> 36 Bonnie Hammersley said yes. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 An amended motion was made by Commissioner Dorosin, seconded by Commissioner <br /> 39 Burroughs to take the money off of outside agency funding and enter into a contract with the <br /> 40 Center for Home Ownership for $10,000. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 VOTE: Ayes, 3 (Commissioner Dorosin, Commissioner Burroughs, and Commissioner Rich); <br /> 43 Nays, 4 (Commissioner Jacobs, Commissioner Price, Chair McKee, and Commissioner <br /> 44 Pelissier) <br /> 45 Motion fails <br /> 46 <br /> 47 Commissioner Price said the Center for Home Ownership asked for $45,000 and she <br /> 48 suggested $22,000. <br /> 49 <br />
