ORANGE COUNTY FIRE RESCUE STUDY <br />ORANGE COUNTY FIRE MARSHAL <br />1 Overview <br />2 <br />3 The County Fire Marshal's Office is located within the County's Emergency <br />4 Management Department. According to the County's budget document, it is <br />5 responsible for: <br />6 <br />7 - Administering. the provisions of the North Carolina Fire Prevention Code. <br />8 - Reviewing all building and subdivision plans submitted to the County <br />9 Planning Department for fire code/life safety compliance and disaster <br />10 planning. <br />11 - Providing fire education, life safety/disaster preparedness programs to day <br />12 care providers, healthcare providers, civic organizations and public events <br />13 for community outreach. <br />14 - Investigating fires to determine cause and origin of suspicious or <br />15 undetermined fires. <br />16 - Assisting with the organization of the Special Operations Team to support <br />17 hazardous materials and terrorism incidents, disasters, special events and <br />18 other major inadents. <br />19 - .Providing fire education classes to elementary schools and Learn Not to <br />20 Burn fixe education programs. <br />21 - Providing OSHA training programs to county employees. <br />22 - Assisting fire departments with county fire administration issues. <br />23 - Supporting fire and emergency response agencies at emergency incidents <br />24 in the County. <br />25 The Office is not responsible for any activities for the Towns of Chapel Hill, <br />26 Carrboro, or Hillsborough. <br />92 <br />
