ORANGE COUNTY FIRE RESCUE STUDY
WHITE CROSS
__

The Department has one station located on Old Greensboro Road from which it
responds to calls, the approximate location of which is shown on the map above.
The station is very close to being located in the middle of the District and as such
the Department can adequately serve its district within the Department of
Insurance accepted 5 mile range. There is one very small area outside the 5 mile
area at Dairyland Road and Highway 54.

Organization

We did not receive data regarding the Department's organizational or governance
structure.

Demographics

The White Cross District is largely rural residential and agricultural in nature.
Being on the Highway 54 corridor between Carrboro/Chapel Hill and
Chatham/Alamance there is the expectation that there will be residents move to the
District to escape the hectic pace of suburban or urban life and commute to their
jobs. However, the District remains fundamentally rural in character.
