GERALDINE H.WEATHERS DATE: October 16, 1979 ASST.REGISTER OF DEEDS Y SUBJECT: Needed Revision of Landmark Contract For The Digitizing of Parcels in Orange County TO: S. M. Gattis, County Manager Bill Laws, Patti Smith, Don Holloway, and I met with Landmark this morning. Our present contract with Landmark calls for the preparation of a paper overlay for verifying parcel identifier numbers which have been assigned to parcels in the county, and failed to specify that Landmark was responsible for entering the PIN's on our tax maps. _ Because the Landmark plotter stretches paper copies they cannot be used to assign PIN's. We have had to provide, therefore, our original mylar tax a ps which Landmark has been us copy for r PNeassignment:. The contract should It is essential that the PIN's be placed on the maps for parcel identification and the work of the mapping office. Landmark has stated they would be willing to: 1. Erase and redo incorrect coordinates on existing tax maps; 2. Provide grid-lines on maps for parcel prefix locations (individual parcels will only have last four (4) digits on them;) and, 3. Enter last four digits of PIN's on each parcel of tax maps. They are willing to do this for $2,500.00 or about $.08 per parcel. This price has been recommended by our State Consultants as extremel reasonable, "A bargain." It is estimated that it would cost us $6,000 - $8,000 to do this ourselves. Our budget for digitizing th parcels is $32,500.00. The Landmark contract is or $17,500.00. The 2,500.00 addition would bring the contract amount to $20,000.00 and leave a balance of $12,500.00.
