r, u Mr. Bill Dorsett raised a procedural question relating to what was to he discussed at this particular public hearing. Mr. David Shanklin, Cheeks Township Advisory Council , asked whether there were extractive uses other than the quarry operations in Orange County. Mr. Ben Lloyd asked what would happen to extractive uses that might occur after adoption of the amendment. Mr. Robert Ear% Bingham Township Advisory Council , expressed his concern that extension of the zoning ordinance was being rushed through. The representative of American Stone asked whether American Stone would receive notice of whether or not it was non-conforming before the issue of extension of the zoning ordinance comes to public hearing. Mr. B. B. Olive suggested contacting a State geologist and researching geology publications which could identify where all minerals were located C with;n the County. Mrs. Alice Durham expressed her concern about receiving better R notification of these processes so that citizens could have an opportunity to give more input. Mr. B. B. Olive asked whether the University of North Carolina owned property relating to extractive uses and whether special consideration of University property would be made. He asked whether University property would be subject to the ordinance. Mr. Ben Lloyd asked about quarries not currently in operation. There being no further comments about the proposed amendment to Section 8.1.3, Dr. Bonar called for comments on the proposed amendment to Section 9.1.2. No person spoke to this proposed amendment. Dr. Bonar then called for comment on proposed amendments to Section 12.2. The representative of American Stone asked whether this amendment applied only to extractive uses. Mr. Sim Efland asked about setting up a still in Orange County for tax revenue. There being no further comments on Section 12.2, Dr. Bonar called for comment on proposed amendment to Section 15.2.3.
