Press releases, radio and television spot announcements, posters, and direct mailings have all been used to attract new members. To date 41 applications have been received and they are still coming in. The membership committee met on May 7 and selected 10 applicants that they want to recommend to the County Commissioners for possible appoint�ent to the six vacancies the Women's Commission will have effectiYe July 1. Three vacancies are in the northern part of the county and three are in the southern part of the county. The res me forms of all of those who applied will be kept on file and used as part of the talent bank the Women's Commission is developing. The Women's Commission hopes that the Commissioners will be able to take up the matter of selecting six appointees to the Orange County Commission for Women at its May 29 meeting. The appointments would all be for two year terms beginning July 1, 1979. In accordance with the bylaws change, those appointed would be eligible for reappointment at the end of their two year term. The me bership committee feels that the Commissioners should know that Ms Lig ins has acted as a pro tem member for the Commission for several months and that Ms Satterwhite has attended Commission meetings regularly throughout 78-79.
