Each member of the board <br /> selected to represent a specific geographic area within <br /> a community must reside in the area he represents. No <br /> person selected under clause (2) or (3) of this subsection <br /> as a member of a board shall serve on such board for more ' <br /> than five consecutive years, or more than a total of ten _ <br /> years." <br /> i <br /> 2. Comment: <br /> The amended 217(b) requires that Community action boards <br /> I <br /> shall now .consist of not less than fifteen members. The <br /> first change assures for the first time, a representative <br /> minimum as*well ,as maximum level of participation on all <br /> community action boards. In addition the one-third of <br /> the board who are elected public officials must be current <br /> 7y holding office. <br /> The second change expresses the intent of Congress that <br /> elected public officials do not hold terms on the board <br /> ear se but that they serve on the board in their capacity <br /> as e'iected officials. i <br /> Grantee boards must be in compliance with this subsection <br /> within forty days from publication. t I <br /> C...
