These inconsistencies can <br /> easily lead to panning decisions in one jurisdiction which produce seriously <br /> adverse effects n nearby areas within another jurisdiction. <br /> 2 - There is inadequate coordination between those agencies directly con- <br /> cerned with phys"cal development (such as planning boards) and a multiplicity <br /> of other agenciel whose activities either strongly influence or are influenced <br /> by such development (such as school boards) . <br /> 3 While t L 'Triangle J Council of Governments serves as an important <br /> mechanism for intergovernmental coordination, the region it serves is so large <br /> (stretching from Orange County to Johnston County) that it cannot give the <br /> particularized a tention to problems within Orange County which is required to <br /> deal with the pr blems noted above. <br /> 4 - Agreed-upon statements of goals, objectives, and standards for develop- <br /> ment can serve as an important overall coordinating mechanism for governmental . <br /> planning.
