`Y ATTACK'€ENT ND, 2 <br /> ORDINANCE <br /> AN ORDINANCE GOVERNING THE STORAGE, COLLECTIO,I, TRhNSPOPTING <br /> AND DISPOSAL OF SOLID WASTE IN EDGECOMBE COU,ITY, NORTH <br /> CAROLINA <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY CO,1,1ISSIONER8 OF <br /> EDGECOMBE COUNTY: <br /> Section 1_ That this ordinance governing the storage, <br /> collection, transporting and disposal of solid waste thzodghout <br /> Edgecombe County for the protection of public health are <br /> hereby adapted pursuant to authority granted by Articles 6 <br /> and 15 of Chapter 153A of the General Statutes of North, <br /> Carolina to read as follows: <br /> Section 2. - DEFINITIONS <br /> The following definitions shall apply in the interpretation <br /> and enforcement of this ordinance: <br /> A. Commissioners -- Means the Board of County Commissioners <br /> of Edgecombe Bounty or their authorized representative. <br /> B. Garbage - All putrescible wastes, including animal <br /> and vegetable matter, animal offal and carcasses, <br /> and recognizable industrial by-products, but <br /> excluding sewage and human waste. <br /> C. Person -- Means any individual, firm, goyernmental <br /> unit, organization, partnership, corporation or <br /> company. <br /> D. Refuse -- All nonputrescible wastes_ <br /> E. Solid Waste - Garbage, refuse, rubbish, trash and . <br /> other discarded solid material including solid <br /> waste materials resulting from industrial, commercial, <br /> • and agricultural operations, and from community <br /> activities, but does not include solids or dissolved <br /> materials in domestic sewage or other significant <br /> pollutants in water resources, such as silt, <br /> dissolved or suspended solids in industrial waste <br /> water effluents, dissolved materials ill irrigation <br /> return flows or ot:tle) conulio« %titter poll,uL-c:lIts. <br />
