b
incorporated into the regular F.P. clinic, classes were rescheduled.
Presently in Hillsborough, patient education classes occur once a week
on clinic day from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
In Chapel Hill, classes occur once a week on clinic day from 9:30 a.m.
to 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Although classes are mandated
for new patients, other interested persons have been encouraged and
.invited to attend. During FY 179 - '80 the department is committed to
continue providing such classes. The department plans to sponsor other
family planning related classes within the clinical setting dealing with
such topics as breast self-exam, venereal disease, high risk pregnancy
indicators, etc.
..... _.. See Family Planning Health Education Objectives forward for more detailed
plans for FY 179 - 180.
E. Internal Quality Assurance
At the end of each clinic day, the E.P. lead nurse, Anna White, re-
views the charts to assure that all procedures which were performed are
recorded properly. She also notes which patients need home visits or
return visits to the clinic. The F.F. clerks at each clinic also reviews
the charts while processing the third party charges. The nursing super.-
visor and management support supervisor exercise quality control measures
during and after each clinic. In FY 179, our F.P. Physician and nursing
supervisor pulled records for spot checks. During FY R80, we shall for-
malize a quality assurance checking procedure which shall be accomplished
by a teary consisting of our F.P. Physician, F.P. Lead Nurse, and the
departmental Nursing Supervisor and Management Support Supervisor. The
team goal will be to randomly pull and check 5% of the patient records
per quarter.
F. Infertility Services
Patients who are having difficulty conceiving are counseled about the
normal physiology of ovulation and fertilization. The procedures involved
in a infertility work-up are explained and the patients are referred to
the physician of their choice for further care.
We are fortunate to have a Leading infertility clinic at Memorial
Hospital in Chapel Hall headed by Dr. Jaroslaw Hulka who is an established
authority in this subject.
G.
