Erosion can be significantly reduced and the quality of the water improved <br /> by accelerating the installation of conservation practices. If additional funds <br /> are made available from the RCP program aside from what will be obtained from <br /> RC&D funds, then acceleration will be greatly increased and more conservation <br /> practices will be applied in a shorter period of time. <br /> 4. Rel.ationship Between the Application and 208,Planning <br /> This watershed area is included in both the Regional and the State 208 <br /> planning area. There has been no monitoring in this particular area under the <br /> 208 study. However, as previously noted, a sediment survey was conducted in 1977 <br /> by the Soil Conservation Service in this watershed. In addition, the USDA <br /> periodically conducts a conservation needs inventory. So we do have current <br /> information on the problems in this watershed. <br /> 5. Involvement of ASCS and Other USDA Agencies, Conservation Districts and <br /> Other A ricultural Interests in the 208 Process <br /> The Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, EPA, Soil and <br /> Water Conservation Districts, Soil Conservation Service and many other Federal, <br /> - State, and County governmental agencies are involved in the 208 planning <br /> process. In addition to the North Carolina 208 Statewide plan, the following <br /> documents have been published: <br /> "Best Management Practices to Control Sediment and Other <br /> Non-Point Source Pollution from Agricultural Land in NC," <br /> as required by the NC 208 Water Quality Management plan. <br /> "Conservation districts and 208 Water Quality Management," <br /> published by the National Association of Conservation <br /> Districts and US Environmental Protection Agency. <br /> "Areawide Water Quality Management Planning 208 Pollution <br /> Source Analysis," published by the 'Triangle J Council of <br /> Governments. <br />
