As was mentioned in our April 25th letter to <br /> the Commissi?-aers , we feel strongly that it would be in the i best <br /> interests of both OWASA and Orange County to have a representa- <br /> tive from Bi gham Township on the OWASA Board of Directors. Such <br /> a person would be in a position to communicate effectively the con- <br /> cerns of the residents of the Cane Creek area, Rach" of the candi- <br /> dates also brings. with him or her other unique qualifications which <br /> should be beneficial to OWASA as it seeks to solve the water prob- <br /> lems in lout ern Orange County. <br /> We had 71shed to present the Commissioners with five nominees , <br /> and indeed , we originally had committments from five. But two of <br /> them, after reflecting 'on the amount of work involved, the number <br /> of meetings , etc. , asked to withdraw their names . We therefore sub- <br /> mit three nai ies: Nancy Hardy , James Howard , and Joseph Suggs. <br /> The Comiissioners will undoubtedly wish to know of the involve- <br /> ment of these three nominees in the controversy over Cane Creek. <br /> None has eve I 'held any office with CCC& and none has been directly <br /> involved wit; the day-to-day activities of our group . Dr. Howard <br /> served an th Cane Creek Task force and I think that everyone of <br /> the participint s will agree that he thinks clearly 'and has a high <br /> regard for hird facts . Mrs . Hardy has occasionally _ assisted CCCA, <br /> in fund rais ng events . Her work with the Bin-ham Advisor' <br /> C� Y Council <br /> would be valtable if she were appointed- to the OWASA Board. Dr. <br /> Suggs works ith EPA and is knowledgeable concerning the uses of <br /> V <br /> agricultural chemicals . He has not participated in any CCC& act!- <br /> agricultural.ities. <br /> Let me epeat a thought from our April 25 letter. In seeking <br /> a representa I Ion for Bingham Township an the OWASA Board , we are <br /> not being c.Ntical of the amount of effort that Paul Morris has de- <br /> voted to the job . He has truly worked long and hard to bring about <br /> * solution t9 the water problem. Our concern is that fir. Morris , as <br /> * county app intee , is , through no fault of his own, in no Position <br /> to reflect the attitudes and opinions of those citizens of Orange <br /> County who i 've outside Chapel Township which presently is the <br />
