AGENDA ATTACHMENT 11 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY HEALTH AND MEDICAL CARE ADVISORY COUNCIL 46 14�e � <br /> The purpose of this report is to st.mmarize the view's of the undersigned <br /> regarding the need to establish in Orange County a health and medical care <br /> advisory council which would be appointed by and report to the County Commis- <br /> sioners of Grange County. The undersigned understand and recognize the respon- <br /> sibilities and functions of the Orange County Board of Health, the Capital <br /> Health Systems Agency, Orange Chatham Comprehensive Health Services , various <br /> professional organizations such as the Durham-Orange County Medical Society, the <br /> hospital associations , and other groups interested in problems of the health and <br /> medical care delivery in Orange County. They also recognize the fact that the <br /> trustees of the North Carolina Memorial. Hospital are concerned with providing <br /> hospital care to Many citizens of the county. The proposed organization would <br /> not duplicate the work of any of these organizations. It would complement and <br /> strengthen all of these activities both by bringing unto sharp focus the needs o. <br /> Orange County in relation to health and medical care and by caiWully tabulating <br /> and making known the various options open to the people of Orange County and <br /> their elected representatives in their efforts to meet the health and medical <br /> care needs of all county residents. <br /> To assure close cooperation and coordination of function between the counci <br /> the Orange County Board of Health, and the Capital. Health Systems Agency, the <br /> membership of the Council should include but not be limited to representatives <br /> from these two units, other providers and consumers. Secondly; appropriate <br /> liaison should be established with organizations and consumer groups who are <br /> not represented as members to assure appropriate input from each. <br /> The purpose of the council would be to work closely with the Capital Health <br /> Systems Agency and the Department of Health and the other professional and con- <br /> sumer organizations mentioned in defining as precisely as possible the health <br />
