Commission r Pinney called for the question. <br /> 5. Voting aye on the motion were Commissioners Gustaveson, Pinney, Walke <br /> 6. and Whitted. V ting nay was Commissioner Willhoit. The motion was declar <br /> 7. passed. <br /> 8. The Chairman asked the Board to discuss the possibility of applying <br /> 9. for a Community Development Grant. He reminded the Board that the Town of <br /> 10. Hillsborough had indicated an interest in providing utility facilities for <br /> 11. the Northern Fairview area, and the County Board had decided to lend to th <br /> 12 . Town $10,000 to help fund the project. The Town is now unsure of whether <br /> 13 . funds are avail le and if the County wishes to proceed with the project <br /> 14 . on it own, as ..a Cbmmunity Development project, it now has about six weeks <br /> 15 . in which to act. <br /> 16 . The Chairman recognized Hal Minis of the Planning Department and <br /> 17 . Joe Bradshaw of the County Manager's staff. <br /> 18. Mr: Minis spoke of four areas which should be discussed regarding the <br /> 19 . application. 1) The manpower required of the County, should the Board <br /> 20. decide to submit an application, 2) What are the County's chances, 3) The <br /> 21. approximate cost of the grant, and 4) Final action required of the Board <br /> 22. today. <br /> 23. Mr. Bradsha# spoke of the normal activities the County staff would be <br /> 24. involved with during this particular time of the year, and stated that the <br /> 25. activities would be somewhat slowed down by applying for the C/D Grant. <br /> 26. He stated that h , Mr. Minis and Per. Gattis felt the County had a better <br /> 27. chance of receiving monies by applying for a single purpose grant. The <br /> 28. County will be c mpeting with other counties of our, own size. Triangle J <br /> 29. has stated that range County is high on the List regarding the need for <br /> 30. the facility. <br /> The County 6taff recommended to the Board that i-hpv ann7 v fnr Ti,=4-cam z" <br />
