AGENDA ATTACHMENT VII
Y February 17, 1978
Memo To: Orange County Board of Commissioners
From. deal Evans, Finance Director
Subject: Proposed Budget Amendment
The attached budget amendment includes the Maternal & Child Health Grant for
$2,800 medical assistance fees approved in the meeting of February 6, 1978.
An addi, tio al sum of $844 is added to the Central Services-Auditing item to
ever_ the incre sed price 'in the Audit Contract approved on February 6, 1978, and
$244 to cover tie Community Development Audit. The $244 is available from the
Community Devel pmentGrant.
Several requests from the Recreation Department includes the budgeting of
$950 revenues and expenditures for the Grassroots Arts Program; a copy of the
application is attached. 'This grant has been approved by the, N, C. Arts Council .
$120. is requested to be transferred from supplies to equipment to replace a
calculator stolen from the Director's desk in a break in on February 11, 1978.
04 , u
The Directgr is requesting ..additional funds to come from Contingency for
do items totaling $685. One is to cover the cost of a bus ($350.00) that was
purchased by the Motor Pool to use for parts for the County's old bus. It be--
came apparent t1at the parts bus was in better shape than the old bus, and was
placed on the road. It is consequently a capital acquisition requiring an ex-
pense against aJcapital budget item. The second item is a $285 request to add
to the gymnasti s equipment approved in last year's budget. A different type and
size of mats is required than had originally been requested. Inflated prices
have also created some of the cost increase.
The Proposed amendment also includes the budgeting of $339 revenues from
a N. C. Symphony Program for direct payment to the Symphony.
And finally $1 ,956 is requested for transfer from personnel 'to contracted
services for a y uth piano instruction program ($956) and a creative playschool
program ($1 ,000). These funds are available because of personnel changes in the
Cultural Arts Program. The programs have expanded beyond plans and additional
assistance is needed. It also appears that this additional activity will pro-
duce some excess revenues.
73
