RESOLU'T'ION DECLARING ORANGE COUNTY <br /> A DISASTER AREA <br /> WHEREAS, (fin Friday, January 1:3, 1978, North Carolina and <br /> particularly Orange County, was struck by a severe <br /> ice storm; and <br /> WHEREAS, Can Thursday, January 19 , 1978, North Carolina and <br /> Grange County again was struck by an ice storm <br /> which caused hardships to residents and to utility <br /> companies serving the residents of the County; and <br /> WHEREAS, ue to the ice storm, utility companies have worked <br /> 1 ng and hard hours restoring power to its customers; <br /> a d <br /> WHEREAS, Utility companies, specifically Piedmont Rural <br /> E ectricification Association in Orange County, <br /> h ve suffered great financial loss in replacing <br /> uti.l.ity poles, electrical, lines, supplying additional <br /> work force, plus many hours of overtime; and <br /> WHEREAS, piedmont REA has described the effects of the storm <br /> as "devastating" and has further requested the Orange <br /> County Board of Commissioners ask the Governor of the <br /> State of North Carolina to declare Grange County a <br /> d salter area. <br /> BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of <br /> C mmissioners does this day, January 23, 1978, request <br /> G:vernor James B.
