RESOLD ION CONCERNING LOCAL SIGNIFICANCE OF DUKE FOREST <br /> WHEREAS several divisions of the Duke Forest, <br /> which i owned and managed by Duke University for the benefit <br /> of the eneral publiciare located in orange County, North <br /> Carolin ; and <br /> WHEREAS the lands and waters of the aforesaid <br /> diVisions of Doke Forest are used by citizens of Orange County, <br /> the Stata of North Carolina and the United States for education, <br /> research, recreation, and the observation of nature and wildlife; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS the lands and waters of those aforesaid divisior <br /> of the Duke Forest are .irreplaceable natural areas which preserve <br /> the flora and fauna native to Orange County and the North <br /> Carolina Piedmont. <br /> IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissione <br /> of Orang County that such portions of Duke Forrest that are <br /> within O ange County are recreational and wildlife areas of local <br /> significance as well as natural History sites of local <br /> significance and importance. <br />
