Contractor, for construction of the pPC Mental
Health Center.
As you may recall the County Commissioners during the early stages of Design
Development expressed a strong interest in considering all. possible energy
saving measures. As a consequence l was instructed to have ouro consulting
be
in-
mechanical engineers evaluate all practicable measures that might
echanical into this building. of these measures turn of the most important
corporated involved the treatment of the exterior window areas.
The existin; windows are single glazed commercial type steel sash, all of
which have had the glass broken out of them. The heating system, in spite
sufficient capacity to heat the building adquately with the old windows
since it' i.s essentially the original heating system, improved and re-used.
The proposed change order provides for the removal of all the. old steel.
sash and the installation of high quality insulating aluminum sash. Not
only the glazing of insulating glass (tiro thicknesses with air space ial construction
between) but also the frames in contrast t to spe exist sting steel sash which
an efective thermal barrier o osed windows not only
do not provide such a barrier. Thus, these pr' P
