Jn view of the current water crisis , direct and order the l <br /> partment of Transportation to also immediately undertake ar <br /> depth study in conjunction with other State agencies dirE <br /> to identifying where water shortages exist, how present ME <br /> ways and future highways contribute or would contribute to <br /> water consumption and bring back to the Board findings and <br /> recommendations in the following areas : <br /> (a) What critical water supplies presently exist in areas <br /> related to projected new highway or highway expansior. <br /> (b) How do existing and future highways affect water con- <br /> sumption in the impacted area. <br /> (c) What should be Board policy so far as relating highway <br /> location or expansion to available water in the impact <br /> area. <br /> 4. S eci.fical.ly, as to the 1-40 routing, that you further order <br /> aid direct the Division of Transportation staff to conduct <br /> farther studies and revise the last Environmental impact <br /> Study relating to 1--40 to include the following information <br /> n w totally and completely lacking: <br /> (a) Analysis of the total land area impacted and consumed <br /> by existing 1-35 in Orange County. <br /> ( ) Analysis of the total land area that would be impacted <br /> and consumed if and when 1-85 is six or eight laned in <br /> Change County as has often been discussed and projecte <br /> by the Division of Transportation staff. <br /> ( a) Analysis of the total land area that would be impacted <br /> and consumed by each proposed alternate route now unde <br /> consideration for 1--40 . <br />
