AGENDA ATTACHMENT I <br /> August 1 , 1977 <br /> Attention: Charman and Members of the Board of County Commissioners <br /> We the people bf the Cheeks Community wish to bring to your attention <br /> a Proposal for la Community park to be located on the Cousin's property. <br /> We wish this p oposal to be funded through the Department of Housing and <br /> Urban Cevelopm nt Community Development Black Grant Program. <br /> We have talked with Mr. Norman Hester, the Administrator of the property, <br /> and he has agr?ed to lease five (5) acres of land for the duration of <br /> fifteen (15) years for this purpose. We also have done a spot check and <br /> have gotten an estimate on the number of children a park in this area <br /> will serve. G r target population in age group, 2-18, is estimated to <br /> be 312 children. <br /> The purpose for our request is to alleviate the horrifying conditions <br /> of our young c1jildren, playing in dangerous places. A park will give our <br /> children a safr environment in which to play. <br /> The equipment we request are as follows: <br /> swings Swimming Pool <br /> Sand 'Boxes Picnic Tables <br /> Sliding Boards Grills <br /> See-Saws Merry-Go-Round <br /> Monkey Bars Tennis Court <br /> Basket Bail Court Skating Rink <br /> We strongly feel that a Community Park will serve as a positive influence <br /> for our young p ogle. As a community , we do not, and have not had the <br /> resources to provide this type of outlet for our young people. As you <br /> know, a Park wi l also prove beneficial for the adult population, and <br /> we feel it will manifest itself in positive changes in the total community. <br /> Respectfully., <br /> Cora Jones, President <br />
