Certificate of Approval <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Donna Coffey 245-2151 <br />Mike Tapp 245-3030 <br />PURPOSE: To approve a request from Efland Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. to enter into atax- <br />exempt financing arrangement to construct a new fire substation and authorize the Board of <br />Commissioner Chair to sign the appropriate documents related to the financing arrangement. <br />BACKGROUND: On September 20, 2005, the Board of County Commissioners approved atax- <br />exempt financing arrangement for Efland Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. to purchase land with <br />the intent to build a second fire station on the site. In the attached letter addressed to the <br />County Budget Office, Ronnie L. McAdams, President of the Efland Volunteer Fire Company, <br />Inc. confirmed the department's intent to proceed with the construction project (Attachment 1 of <br />this abstract). <br />The property, located on Highway 70 across from Hancor Corporation, offers direct access to <br />both Highway 70 and Frazier Road (Attachment 2 of this abstract is a tax map of the property). <br />Prior to the purchase of the land, members from the Efland Fire Department worked with the <br />County's Fire Marshal, and staff from the Planning and Inspections and Environmental Health <br />departments to ensure that the 19-acre site met regulations and requirements necessary for <br />future construction of the substation.
