1'113 <br /> "fA PROCLAMATION DECLARING A WATER SHORTAGE ALERT <br /> The Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners does proclaim; that, <br /> Whereas; the water level of University Lake has fallen to more than 36 inches <br /> below full elevation and whereas the Orange Water and Sewer Authority has <br /> been supplementing the University Lake water supply with water from the <br /> American Stone Quarry and water purchased from the Town of Hillsborough; and <br /> Whereas the Orange County Code of Ordinances specifies that when <br /> University Lake has fallen to 36 inches below full, the Chairman of the <br /> Board of County Commissioners shall issue a Proclamation urging citizens to <br /> practice voluntary water conservation measures, <br /> 14ow, therefore, Richard Whitted, Chairman, Board of County Commissioners <br /> does urge all residents of Orange County to follow these and other water saving <br /> measures in and around their homes: <br /> 1. Use shower for bathing rather than tub and limit showering <br /> to 4 minutes. <br /> 2. Limit flushing of toilets by multiple usage. <br /> 3. Do not leave faucets running while shaving or rinsing dishes. <br /> 4. Limit use all clothes washers and dishwashers and when used <br /> operate fully loaded. <br /> 5. Limit lawn watering to that which is necessary for plants to <br /> survive. <br /> 6. Water shrubbery the minimum required re-using household water <br /> when possible. <br /> 7. Limit car washing to the minimum. <br /> 8. Do not wash down outside areas, such as sidewalks, patios, etc. <br /> 9. Install water flow restrictive devices in shower heads. <br /> lo. Use disposable and biodegradable dishes. <br /> 11. Install water saving devices such as bricks, plastic bottles <br /> or commercial units in toilet tanks. <br /> t <br />
