M i 1 Z �\. <br /> i <br /> In an effort to examine what role Orange County government <br /> should play in developing, assisting, and continuing day care in <br /> the county, the Social services Board undertook a careful examina- <br /> tion of the present status of day care in our county. Through this <br /> process the following five principles were formulated as a guide- <br /> line for action: <br /> i I. Demands for quality day care are increasing, particularly <br /> for care for infants and toddlers. Wherever possible the <br /> county should be supportive in the development or expansion <br /> of community programs that meet these demands. <br /> I <br /> II. Certified day care in Northern Orange County has long been <br /> a documented need. Presently the facility at Cedar Grove <br /> affords a promising site for a new center. Every effort <br /> should be made to support its creation_ <br /> III. Because of the small number of .existing certified day care <br /> spaces in Northern Orange County, every effort should be made <br /> to redistribute day care funds where possible so that maxi- <br /> ' mum utilization of the certified spaces is possible. <br /> TV. Wherever practical and possible the county's provision of house <br /> ing for day care is seen as appropriate. Requests far housin::, <br /> i should be considered on an individual basis. <br /> V.
