LUNSFORD
ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT FOR INSTRUCTION
DATE: MAY 23, 1980
RE: ORANGE COUNTY SCHOOLS SUMMER PROGRAM
Since I last reported to the Human Services Advisory Com-
mission (HSAC) on the program plan of the Orange County
Schools for the Summer of 1980, a number of things have
occurred. First of all, the school system will not operate
a migrant education program due to less than required en-
rollment. There will be a regular summer school program,
though enrollment is still not fixed.
The summer camp program will be operated at three sites:
Grady A. Brown Elementary School, Efland-Cheeks Elemen-
tary School and Cameron Park Elementary School. A nu-
tritional service will be provided, with the food being
prepared at Efland-Cheeks. We have plans to provide lunches
for JOCCA at Cedar Grove and JOCCA/Orange County Recreation .
Department at Efland-Cheeks.
The pro, ected 'enrollment can be found on attachment #1 and
per child cost is found on attachment #2. The cost of
scholarships per child can be computed on the per child cost.
A reduction in per child cost across the board can be com-
puted as follows:
Day Camp Total. Cost - $31,860.00
Reduction by 10% 3,186.00
Reduction by 25% 7,965.00
If there is a need for additional information, please let
me know.
crm
attachments
cc; Dr. R, Mike Simmons, Superintendent
Mr. William H.
