47J <br /> for public purposes and particularly the public purpose of <br /> preserving the historic character of Lot 98, the Town of <br /> Hillsborough and its immediately adjacent area. <br /> IX. It is further the opinion of the Board of Commiss- <br /> ioners of Orange County that the Historic Hillsborough <br /> Commission, recreated in 1973 by the General Assembly of <br /> North Carolina, and a member of the National Trust for <br /> Historic Preservation, by virtue of the long and arduous time, <br /> energy, and money devoted by its members to the research <br /> of Historic Hillsborough and the preservation of this research <br /> and by virtue of the tenants of the Commission itself, is the <br /> proper custodian of the Confederate Memorial Library Building <br /> and the land upon which it is situate and that the said <br /> Commission should hold title thereto in trust forever, to be <br /> used for the benefit of all the people so that the historic <br /> character of the Town of Hillsborough and its environs shall <br /> always be preserved. <br /> IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVES that the County of Orange <br /> shall, by proper deed, convey the Confederate Memorial Library <br /> property to the Historic Hillsborough Commission in trust for- <br /> ever for the public purposes of the Commission. <br /> IT IS FURTHER RESOLVER that the Town of Hillsborough, <br /> claiming some right, title and interest in the said property is <br /> hereby respectfully requested and urgeq to join in the deed from <br /> Orange County to the Historic Hillsborough Commission or to <br /> convey by separate deed all its right, title and interest in <br /> the said property to the Historic Hillsborough Commission under <br />
