COUNTY-MDE LAND USE GOALS <br /> These county--wide goals for Orange County are general in concept and scope. <br /> They-encompass areas over which county government has varying degrees of <br /> influence and are meant to serve as a general guide in developing policies <br /> and rograms related to land use planning. <br /> CATEGORY: NATURAL ENVIRONMENT RESOURCES CONSERVATION AND ENERGY <br /> GOAL ONE: The conservation and protection of Orange County's natural and <br /> u <br /> cultural environments by means which are equitable to all citizens <br /> of the county. <br /> GOAT. TWO: The conservation of natural resources. <br /> GOAL <br /> THREE: The conservation of energy. <br /> GOAT, <br /> FOUR: Development of renewable sources of energy. <br /> CATEGORY: GROWTH <br /> GOAL <br /> FIVE: Direct growth to those areas where growth is desirable and <br /> which are suitable to accomodate it. <br /> GOAL <br /> SIX: Economic development which emphasizes local employment while <br /> preserving the character of communities and protecting the natural <br /> environment. <br /> GOAL <br /> SEVEN: Agricultural land and the farming way of life to continue in <br /> rural areas as a viable part of the County's economy. <br /> CATEGORY: HOUSING <br /> GOAT, <br /> EIGHT: Development of adequate, reasonably priced, safe housing with <br /> an appropriate variety of types for all citizens in proximity <br />
