The MUSIC MASTERS SERIES will replace this festival. These events will bring together music fans and artist in the comfort of the Whitted building in Hillsborough. The arts council has been active in developing and supporting the arts locally for more than 20 years. The attempt is to make Hillsborough a better place to ® �® visit, live and play. This series will provide entertainment for all ages at a minimal cost. The arts council's plans are to attract a good cross section of the population in the Triangle. In the past this goal was achieved with The Hillsborough Jazz Festival. This series of musical shows takes the next step ORANGE COUNTY ARTS in making Hillsborough an influential player in hosting different genres of COMMISSION music. Not only the jazz enthusiast palate be satisfied but lovers of R&B, folk, bluegrass and modern music will have their appetites gratified. A future show in the planning stages for 2016 will bring together the County middle and high school jazz bands for each to perform then get feedback on their performance, from trained clinicians. Giving the students the benefits of two worlds; to play in front of friends, family and other schools. Then to be critiqued by professional musicians. This year's grant would be used along with sponsor donations and other grants to fund the initial two shows. On August 15, 2015 Ken Knox and Company will perform at the Whitted building from 7-9pm. This band is comprised of the former members of The Chairman of the Board. Beach music fans love this band. October 24, 2015 a jazz show is being planned from 7-9pm, consisting of two bands. Jazz has been hosted in northern Orange County ten of the last eleven years. This show continues that tradition. First it was the COOL JAZZ FESTIVAL produced by the Orange County Parks and Recreation Department. Then the Hillsborough Jazz Festival produced by the Hillsborough Arts Council. Now we will have the first indoor jazz performance in this line of music. The Whitted building has a capacity of 290 people. We estimate selling 200 tickets for each show. 6 Application Checklist (do not staple, bind, or put into individual folders) Please include the following materials in your application packet in the following order: 1 copy each: (only 1 sided, 81/2"x 11'; white paper) and 1 complete electronic copy(in PDF format): • Applicant Information Sheet (Page One of Grant Application Form) Narrative Budget Sheet Itemized Budget(if necessary) • Signature Page Resumes of key artists and administrators involved in grant funded program(s). • 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 Organizational Budgets.. • Artist contact list, including names, address, phone numbers, and email (if applicable)of all artists involved in grant funded activities. • Staff roster with position title(s). Board contact list, including names, address, phone numbers, and email (if applicable) of organization's board of directors. • Copy of IRS Tax Exemption Letter. • Sample programs, press, or other materials from this or similar past programs. Sample work by key artists, administrators, or teachers produced in the last three years:. For example, for visual arts submit a PC-compatible CD or DVD, slides or high quality photographs (5-10 images); for dance or theater arts submit a PC-compatible CD or DVD, or video tape (3-5 minute sample); for music and spoken word submit a PC-compatible CD or DVD, or audio tape (1- 2 selections); for literary arts submit a manuscript (10-15 pages). Label all sample work with artists'/organizations' name, title of work(s), date of work. For visual arts include a sheet with work dimensions, media. Indicate top of image. Mail or deliver signed original to the OCAC office, including work samples. Email PDF of completed application to arts @orangecountync.gov.
