ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT Meeting Date: December 11, 2007 Agenda Item No. ~" , SUBJECT• Comprehensive Plan Update -Staff/Consultant Report DEPARTMENT: Planning & Inspections PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) ~~ ATTACHMENT(S) (Under Separate Cover) 1) Adopted Comprehensive Plan Update INFORMATION CONTACT: Process Tom Altieri, Comprehensive Planning 2) Comprehensive Plan Update Timetable Supervisor, 245-2579 3) Draft Comprehensive Plan Table of Contents PURPOSE: To receive a brief presentation from staff and Roger Waldon, Clarion Associates, on the status of the Comprehensive Plan Update and provide an opportunity for the Board of County Commissioners to ask questions and provide feedback. BACKGROUND: Origin: At its August 21, 2007 meeting; the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) amended the process and timetable for updating the Comprehensive Plan to incorporate Clarion Associates' contractual Scope of Services. Attachments 1 and 2 are provided as background information and for convenience. Who's Involved: Board of County Commissioners (BOCC), multiple county advisory boards and departments, Clarion Associates, as well as the general public. Status: The Comprehensive Plan Update is on schedule and there are no problems for the BOCC to address at this time. The County "kicked-ofP' Phase II of the Update Process in October of this year, which is intended to conclude in August 2008. Specifically, the County is at Phase II, Step 4, "Staff and Consultant Check-in Point with BOCC" of the Update Process (See Attachment 1). Full Report: Planning Board - At the December 5, 2007 Planning Board Meeting, the Board reviewed a draft meeting plan for the January 28th Comprehensive Plan Update -Public Input Session and a process for the Planning Board and Planning Staff to follow to respond to draft language for the Comprehensive Plan Update.
