Her blues classroom was <br /> on the porch of her uncle's house where family members played the guitar and harmonica. <br /> Harvey Dalton Arnold is a singer, guitarist and North Carolina-native who has a passion for <br /> the blues. He sold millions of albums as a member of southern-rock band The Outlaws from <br /> 1976-80 and has played at Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall. He has also <br /> shared the stage with the Rolling Stones at Anaheim Stadium. Harvey performs a left- <br /> handed finger-picking style and slide playing on electric and acoustic guitars. <br /> Boo Hanks is the greatest Piedmont Blues rediscovery in many years; he sings and plays <br /> guitar in the style of the legendary Blind Boy Fuller.At the age of 79,he made his first <br /> recording and at 85 he has enjoyed performances all over the country,including the <br /> Lincoln Center, as well as overseas in Belgium. <br /> Drummer James "Bubba" Norwood's credentials are among the brightest of any Music <br /> Maker artist. Known mostly for his long-time association with Ike and Tina Turner,James <br /> has anchored the rhythm section for a"who's who" of blues, soul,and R&B greats. Norwood <br /> is a lifelong resident of Carrboro, NC. <br /> Lakota John&Kin consists of Lakota John,Mama Tonya, Papa John and Sister Layla; a <br /> proud Lumbee and Oglala Nation family of talented musicians. Lakota John,the youngest <br /> family member in the group,grew up listening to the blues music of North Carolina and <br /> beyond. He took up the harmonica and the guitar before the age of ten and has been <br /> performing ever since,learning directly from Piedmont masters of music such as Captain <br /> Luke. Lakota John&kin uniquely blend together their ancestors` ancient harmonies and <br /> traditional blues. <br /> Ironing Board Sam, 76, of Hillsborough, NC, has been playing for over 55 years,and his <br /> powerful, soulful voice and remarkable piano prowess remain undiminished. In the 1960s, <br /> Sam was a featured artist on The Night Train,the first televised African-American music <br /> revue, and has performed with some of most revered musicians of the 201h century such as <br /> Jimi Hendrix. <br /> 3 <br />
