UNC college students provide free tutoring to k-12 children in all subjects except computers.The sessions are held from 4:30 to 6 p.m.on Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Community Policing Substation, 501 Rainey Ave., Hillsborough.Registration is not required.Parents sign their children in and return to pick them up at 6.Children must bring their homework with them. Our box top drawer is located next to the water fountain Juice pouches-The Girl Scouts of GAB&their parents will be collecting juice pouches this year from the bins in the lobby and cafeteria. They will clean, flatten,&dry them,then send them off to TerraCycle to raise money for GAB. How can you help? At School: Drink all of your juice! Do NOT put trash in the Juice Pouch Bins! At Home:If you use juice pouches at home,squish them to remove the leftover juice,flatten&dry them.Place them in plastic grocery or zip top bags.Place the bag into a Juice Pouch Bin at school located in the school lobby. Labels for Education-Please clip the UPC codes for participating products,http://www.labelsforeducation,com/Earn-Points/Participating-Products and put them in the drawers located in the lobby next to the water fountain.This is another great way for the school to earn money on items you already purchase! The Labels for Education also offers coupons for participating products! **The more these programs grow,the less fundraising we will have to do to support the programs at GAB! ** Volunteer Opportunities–How can you help? Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up May 4th-8th.The PTA is seeking gift card donations(up to$25)for our teachers! Please help us show our teachers how thankful we are for them!! Join us on April 18th from 9:00 to 12:00 for a School Beautification Day! We will continue building our new outdoor classroom and sprucing up the grounds of GAB.Bring the whole family,work gloves,a garbage bag,a shovel or pitchfork,and a paint brush. We plan to build a compost bin and can use skilled volunteers who have a drill! Activities will include:painting an outdoor bulletin board,installing a compost bin,planting a garden, and installing bird feeders and bird houses. We will have bricks for children to paint,so be sure to wear clothes that can get duty.We can use donations of newspaper,grass clippings,wheat straw,colorful outdoor paint,foam brushes, and bird seed.
