CENTER
ALAMANCE BUILDING FUTURES JAL D
Highlights m /?,
•The Alamance Building Futures Youth Center (BFYC) staff RAUReS
The tomorrow you've always imagined
participated in several marketing opportunities through educational
partners during the program year. The intent of staff efforts in these types of activities are to
increase partnership awareness with entities that may refer potential WIA participants to the
BFYC, as well as to personally meet and greet youth that may wish to explore potential WIA
eligibility. Staff attended two Alamance Burlington School System sponsored events that
included a Transition Fair on April 29th, at the Graham Recreation Center, and an English as
a Second Language Career Fair held on May 7th, at the Mebane Arts Center. Presentations
to the Alamance Burlington School System's Career and Technical School were also
provided. Staff additionally participated in Alamance Community College's Community Fair at
the Dillingham Campus.
• BFYC held several group workshops at the youth center on various topics. One such
example was "Creating a Game Plan for Your Life." Youth worked individually in the "Your
Promising Future" workbook focusing on dreams, life goals, and career development.
Participants will continue to work in the workbook until completion in order to help with career
development and goal setting.
•Three BFYC program participants Adela Cardenas, Christina - —_—
