76 <br />Personal Wireless Services (PWS) or Personal Telecommunications Service <br />(PTS) shall have the same meaning as defined and used in the 1996 <br />Telecommunications Act. <br />Repairs and maintenance -The replacement or repair of any components of a <br />wireless facility where the. replacement is identical to the component being <br />replaced or for any matters that involve the normal repair and maintenance of a <br />wireless facility without the addition, removal or change of any of the physical or <br />visually discernable components or aspects of a wireless facility that will add to <br />the visible appearance of the facility as originally permitted, but does not <br />constitute a modification to a wireless facility or support structure. <br />Roofline -The overall ridgeline of the structure, not including cupolas, elevator <br />towers, clock towers or other similar features. <br />Search ring -- The area within which a wireless support structure must be located <br />in order to meet service objectives of the wireless service provider using the <br />wireless facility or fireless support structure. <br />Self-Support/t_attice Wireless support structure - A tapered structure broad at the <br />base and narrower at the top consisting of cross-members and diagonal bracing <br />and without guyed support. <br />State -The State of North Carolina. <br />Stealth or Stealth Technology - A design or treatment that minimizes adverse <br />aesthetic and visual impacts on the land, property, buildings, and other facilities <br />adjacent to, surrounding, and in generally the same area as the requested <br />location of such wireless support structures, which shall mean building the least <br />visually and physically intrusive facility that is not technologically or commercially <br />impracticable under the facts and circumstances. Stealth technology includes <br />such technology as Distributed Antenna System (DAS) or its functional equivalent <br />or camouflage where the structure is disguised to make it less visually obtrusive <br />and not recognized to the average person as a wireless support structure. <br />Telecommunication Equipment -Equipment, which is located either upon a <br />telecommunication tower or a structure and includes some form of antenna for the <br />purpose of transmitting and receiving wireless services. <br />Wireless facility Stealth - A wireless support structure designedr'using stealth <br />technology such that its primary purpose is, or visually appears to be, something <br />other than the support of telecommunications equipment, the apparent purpose of <br />the wireless support structure is customarily considered as accessory to a use that <br />is allowed in the zoning district, and the structure and its primary use comply with <br />the Orange County Zoning Ordinance. <br />Utility pole - A structure that is designed for and used to carry lines, cables, or <br />wires for telephone, cable television, or electricity, or to provide lighting. <br />
