Attachment 3 <br />2 <br />3 DRAFT MINUTES <br />4 BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />5 REGULAR MEETING <br />6 April 21, 2015 <br />7 7:00 p.m. <br />8 <br />9 The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, April <br />10 21, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Southern Human Services Center, in Chapel Hill, N.C. <br />11 <br />12 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair McKee and Commissioners Mia Burroughs, <br />13 Barry Jacobs, Bernadette Pelissier, Renee Price and Penny Rich <br />14 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Mark Dorosin <br />15 COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br />16 COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley, Assistant County Manager <br />17 Cheryl Young and Clerk to the Board Donna Baker (All other staff members will be identified <br />18 appropriately below) <br />19 <br />20 Chair McKee called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. He said Commissioner Dorosin <br />21 would be unable to attend tonight due to a work conflict. <br />22 <br />23 1. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br />24 Chair McKee noted the following items at the Commissioners' places: <br />25 - White sheet - revised attachment 2 for item 6 -c- Amendment to the Orange County Code of <br />26 Ordinances Regarding the Parks and Recreation Council. <br />27 <br />28 PUBLIC CHARGE <br />29 Chair McKee dispensed with the reading of the Public Charge <br />30 <br />31 2. Public Comments <br />32 a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br />33 <br />34 b. Matters on the Printed Agenda <br />35 (These matters will be considered when the Board addresses that item on the agenda <br />36 below.) <br />37 <br />38 3. Announcements and Petitions by Board Members <br />39 Commissioner Price said she attended the Unity in Community event and was glad to <br />40 see that this event was growing. She said, while at this event, she talked to people about the <br />41 need for extended hours for bus transit. She said she also attended the Junior Livestock Show <br />42 and Sale. She said it was very impressive to see young people showing the fruits of their <br />43 labors in the world of agriculture. <br />44 Commissioner Price said there have been ongoing meetings regarding the possibility of <br />45 a Veteran's Memorial in Orange County. She said the Chair and Mayor for the Town of Chapel <br />46 Hill will be getting a letter reflecting the will of the group, which includes Veterans from all parts <br />47 of the County, regarding a potential site for this memorial. She said the group is interested in <br />48 donating money to help fund the project. She said this is a great collaboration of staff, <br />49 Veterans and community members. <br />
