Adjusting for these claims lowers your EMR to
approximately 1.11,
Many of your clients use the mod factor to assess the safety performance of a
contractor. While your clients are primarily concerned about jobsite safety, the mod
includes all claims regardless of where the accident occurs, Therefore it makes sense
fora client to evaluate the claims comprising the mod factor. BIRS's jobsite safety
record is far superior to your stated mod factor.
Your stated EMR of '1,30 is being severely impacted by 2 claims that are increasing
your mod, but don't reflect your jobsite safety performance;
o , in 2010, an employee was rear ended in an automobile accident. This claim is
increasing your mod by 9 points.
D in 2012, an employee was diagnosed with a hernia. Hernia claims typically
total $25,000. However, due to medical mistakes, this claim now totals
approximately $76,657. If we adjust this claim to the normal amount for a
hernia, your mad would be reduced by 10 points,
SIRS'commitment to safety is supported by several other factors;
e BIRS conducts regular safety meetings with its employees,
® Your Workers Compensation Carrier recently conducted an inspection and
deemed your safety practices as excellent.
BIBS participates in IS Networld, which is a safety related organization.
Please let me know if I can provide any additional assistance,
Sit ee e y,
David R.
