STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />COUNTY OF ORANGE <br />;1:4NIO <br />/W%,#VQt iF'{'f+ <br />THIS is to amend the Agreement between The North <br />Carolina Memorial Hospital and Orange County, North <br />Carolina, for its Office of Emergency Medical Services, <br />dated April 1, 1986, concerning reimbursement for paramedic <br />services with The Hospital's air ambulance program. This <br />Amendment is in accordance with the Agreement provision <br />authorizing amendment in writing executed by the duly <br />authorized officials of both parties. This Amendment shall <br />be effective June 1, 1987. <br />I. Paragraph 1 of the April 1, 1986 Agreement is <br />amended to read as follows: <br />Orange County agrees to make available to The Hospital <br />the services of six full-time paramedics and the <br />availability of two alternates to assist The Hospital in <br />implementing its air ambulance program. <br />2. Paragraph 6 of said pre - existing Agreement is <br />amended to read as follows: <br />The Hospital agrees to provide a-training experience <br />for the paramedics and alternates. Such training shall be <br />in conjunction with the training of The Hospital'.s flight <br />nurses to the extent feasible. The Hospital further agrees <br />that, to the extent feasible, flight teams shall consist of <br />both a nurse and a paramedic. <br />Paragraph 8 of said pre - existing Agreement is amended <br />to read as follows: <br />In return for the services of paramedics, as identified <br />herein, The Hospital agrees to reimburse Orange County for <br />the cost of salaries and fringe benefits of six full -time <br />paramedics. The Hospital further agrees to reimburse Orange <br />County for the cost of salaries and fringe benefits of six <br />paramedics and two alternates during the training period <br />referenced in paragraph 6 above. "Fringe benefits," as used <br />herein, shall include Orange County's contributions to the <br />local government employee's retirement system, health <br />insurance, life insurance /accidental death and dismemberment <br />and workers' compensation for the paramedics covered by this <br />Agreement. At its option, The Hospital shall either <br />reimburse Orange County for the cost of or provide coverage <br />for professional liability insurance for the paramedics <br />whose services are provided pursuant to this Agreement. <br />Pursuant to these agreements, The Hospital shall reimburse <br />
