(b) The installation of lines, including service <br />drops to subscribers, shall be made underground in areas <br />where both the telephone and power lines are underground or <br />hereafter may be placed underground. The same shall apply to <br />installation of other facilities. Also, installation of <br />lines and facilities shall be made underground, and any <br />.existing above-ground facilities shall be placed underground <br />when required by rules, regulations and policies of the North <br />Carolina Department of Transportation. <br />(c) The grantee shall, at its expense, protect <br />support, temporarily disconnect, relocate in the same street <br />or other Public place, any property of the grantee w . hen <br />required by the county or the North Carolina Department of <br />Transportation . by reason of traffic conditions, public <br />safety, street closing or abandonment, highway or street <br />construction, change or establishment of street grade, <br />installation of sewers, drains, water pipe - s, power lines, <br />signal lines, or any other type Of structures or <br />improvements; and the county or the North Carolina Department <br />of Transportation shall not be liable for any disturbance of <br />the grantee's installations resulting the . refrom. This <br />section applies to. streets or roads as defined herein. The <br />grantee shall carry out ins ructions and directions of the <br />North Carolina Department of transportation District Engineer <br />whenever it is necessary . to raise or remove any of t-he <br />grantee's Wires or cables ,_,=moorarily <br />for the purpose of <br />
