Auction to <br />be held Saturday, June 27, 1987 at the Public Works <br />Department, Hillsborough; and to consider allowing the UNC <br />Campus Police Department to submit certain evidence or <br />confiscated items for sale at the County's auction. <br />BACKGROUND: General Statute 160A- 270(b) requires this procedure to <br />dispose of surplus personal property. <br />UNC Campus Police Department accumulates a negligible amount <br />of evidence and confiscated items during the course of a <br />year. Sergeant Porreca, Campus Police, has requested that <br />their surplus be included in the County Auction. By Statute <br />proceeds From confiscated or evidence items are distributed <br />to the schools. Since the County must follow the same <br />procedure there would be no increased administrative cost. <br />UNC requests they be included on the 1987 and future annual <br />County auctions. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Adopt resolution; approve the addition of UNC Campus <br />Police confiscated items for County auctions. <br />
