while Orange County saw a 5.4 percent during the same period. He said the State also saw a <br /> 4.1 percent rise in profitability while Orange County had a 9.1 percent rise. He said this is <br /> mostly due to the new larger warehouse. He said larger quantities of items can be purchased <br /> when on sale and stored at the warehouse. He said there has been great focus on <br /> maintaining balance between control, revenue and service. He said that there are strong <br /> partnerships between the ABC Board, the police departments and community organizations <br /> emphasizing responsible service to the community. He said a letter was attached to the <br /> annual report that reconfirmed commitment to the current financial obligations within the <br /> County. He indicated that expenses have <br /> been higher this year due to the building of a new store, in addition to the extra monies that <br /> are given to law enforcement and the Alcohol Education and Rehabilitation Grants. He said <br /> despite these higher expenses, the amount given to the County's General Fund remains <br /> strong and is also higher than the state's statutory requirement. He said future improvements <br /> should continue to provide funds for the County, local law enforcement and local non-profit <br /> organizations for years to come. He said an important Board goal this year is the living wage. <br /> He said it will be included in the wage structure and pay scale. <br /> Chair McKee said not only does the ABC Board's financial contributions go above state <br /> requirements but that they continue to increase from year to year. <br /> Commissioner Rich asked if the living wage was going to be adopted across the state <br /> or only in certain counties. <br /> Tony Dubois said the living wage was just adopted as a goal, and specifics are yet to <br /> be determined. <br /> Commissioner Rich said she is thrilled to see it being adopted here, and she <br /> encouraged the Orange County ABC Board to share their living wage initiative with other ABC <br /> Boards throughout the state. <br />
