Proposed UDO Text Amendment(s) <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Michael Harvey Planner 111,(919) 245 -2597 <br />Craig Benedict, Director, (919) 245 -2585 <br />PURPOSE: To hold a public hearing on Planning Director initiated Unified Development <br />Ordinance (UDO) text amendments regarding impervious surface regulations. <br />BACKGROUND: Staff and Board members have received numerous inquiries related to <br />increasing allowable impervious surface area. <br />Staff provided the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) with an information item at its <br />March 3, 2015 regular meeting (Attachment 2) summarizing the issues and possible solutions. <br />The BOCC approved the Comprehensive Plan and Unified Development Ordinance Outline <br />Form (Attachment 1) at its March 17, 2015 regular meeting authorizing the initiation of <br />amendments based on the conclusions and recommendations detailed within the <br />aforementioned information item. <br />The proposed amendment seeks to allow for a potential increase in allowable impervious <br />surface area on a given parcel of property through the development and incorporation of an <br />infiltration based stormwater feature, consistent with State allowances. For more background <br />information please refer to Section B.1 of Attachment 1. <br />Outreach: In addition to the typical peer review of the proposed amendment, staff presented <br />the proposal to the Orange County Commission for the Environment (CFE) and the Orange <br />Water Sewer Authority (OWASA) board.
