87 <br /> DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED EMERSON WALDORF SCHOOL SUP <br /> Location <br /> The property is located at 6211 New Jericho Road (SR 1899) at its intersection with <br /> Millhouse Road (SR 1725), in the northern section of Chapel Hill Township area of <br /> Orange County approximately one (1) mile northwest of Town of Chapel Hill. <br /> Proposed Improvements (Per the proposed SUP Masterplan) <br /> 1 <br /> The Emerson Waldorf School SUP does not propose an increase in acreage and will <br /> continue to operate on the existing 55.27 acre site. <br /> Of the current eleven buildings three will be removed and nine (9) will be added to the <br /> 55.27 acre site for a total of seventeen (17) buildings. total floor area of all buildinsgs. The g <br /> will be approximately 75,259 sf, after all buildings are completed, per the SUP. Emerson <br /> Waldorf School will continue to operate as a multi building, multi-facility, private school. <br /> In addition to these buildings the site will be further improved with travelways, walks, 1 <br /> parking spaces and athletic facilities. No improvements will be located in the 100 foot <br /> setback, except a portion of the eighth-grade classroom and some of the on-site parking <br /> along New Jericho Road where parking is contemplated in the Orange county Ordinance. <br /> The completed facility is planned to support approximately 350 students, with 55 staff <br /> members, once completed in+/-2030,per the SUP (a+/-15 year time period). <br /> Emerson Waldorf School does not provide transportation to or from the School and none <br /> are contemplated in the SUP. The SUP will provide for one bus parking space and on van <br /> parking space for designated activity trip purposes only. There are 161 parking spaces <br /> planned per the SUP of which 98 spaces already exist. The proposed parking spaces <br /> include visitor, teacher, handicap & high school student parking, all of which are within <br /> the existing boundary of the 55.27 acre site and not visible from Millhouse Road, except <br /> those spaces associated with the proposed gymnasium and athletic field. Internal traffic <br /> and parking improvements are based on NCDOT MTSA Traffic Management Unit <br /> recom <br /> mendations, including incorporation oration of recommendations for vehicular circulation, <br /> and incorporate vehicular stacking for carpooling and daily student drop off and pickup <br /> times as well as better separation of on-campus vehicular circulation from pedestrian <br /> circulation. No public roadway improvements are planned. EMS access will be better <br /> managed thru the NCDOT MTSA Traffic Management Unit recommendations to better <br /> articulate response times and potential on-campus traffic conflicts for access to all sides <br /> of each building. <br /> Crosswalks are strategically located to safely cross pedestrians at primary building access <br /> points and at internal intersections. Crosswalks will be at walk level, with no ramps or <br /> step downs. Pedestrian-way lighting will be provided by post lights as well as with <br /> bollard lights in high use areas. <br /> - 8- <br />
