50 <br /> Property Description <br /> The Waldorf Educational Association of North Carolina, Inc. is a private school that <br /> opened in 1984 (http:L/www.emersonwaldorf.org/) and is located at 6211 New Jericho <br /> Road in Chapel Hill,NC. The school teachings are based on the"philosophical and <br /> pedagogical indications of Dr. Rudolf Steiner,"which includes the following practices: <br /> multi-sensory learning, interdisciplinary, individual focus on students, creative play, and <br /> natural science exploration. The school offers classes for student's age 0-18 and includes <br /> a nursery, Parent-Child, Pre-K, and K-12. The school is a frilly sponsored member of the <br /> Association of Waldorf Schools in North America (AWSNA; since 1987) and the <br /> Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America. In 2010, the school became <br /> accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SASC) and the <br /> Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS). <br /> The property is comprised of 5 tax parcels that total 55.27 acres (This acreage is <br /> according to the tax records. For management purposes,the plan will use acreage <br /> reflected using ArcGIS totaling 49.23 acres). This includes the school grounds as well as <br /> woodland, open land, horse pasture, a rental cabin, and an abandoned pond, The property <br /> has received minimal forest and wildlife management in the past; however, it has been <br /> used for recreation and educational opportunities. Site improvements have been made for <br /> internal road access, additional educational buildings, and enhancing walking trails.
