Box 8181 www.orangecountync.gov NORTH CAROLINA Hillsborough, NC 27278 March 23, 2015 NOTICE OF NEIGHBORHOOD INFORMATION MEETING: EMERSON WALDORF SCHOOL (Orange County Property Identification Numbers- P I Ns 9871- 64-7391; 9871-64-5632; 9871-65-8140; 9871-74-3098; and 9871-72-1935) REVIEW OF CLASS A SPECIAL USE PERMIT (SUP) APPLICATION PROPOSING A MASTER PLAN FOR THE EMERSON WALDORF SCHOOL To Whom It May Concern: You are receiving this letter because you are listed as an owner of property within the 500 feet of the Emerson Waldorf School, which is located on a 54-acre campus at 6211 New Jericho Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27514. The Emerson Waldorf School is requesting to amend their current SUP to both modify and expand their existing campus. Part of their request is to have adopt a Master Plan for the school, which spells out the construction and location of new buildings and support facilities over the next 15-years. The Master Plan is envisioned to support an increase in student population to approximately 350 students by 2030. The Orange County Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) requires that any SUP Application proposing the creation, modification or expansion of use that requires a SUP to hold a Neighborhood Information Meeting (NIM). This meeting is designed to allow property owners within 500 feet of the subject property to review and discuss the proposal with the applicant and/or their agents, as well as obtain an understanding of the SUP review and approval process. The NIM for this case will be held on Friday April 10, 2015 from 12:00-1:30pm at 131 West Margaret Lane, Hillsborough, NC 27278. See below for the location and additional details. Please note, the Public Hearing for this item is not scheduled to occur until May 26, 2015, 2015. Additional notices shall be sent informing you of the date/location/time of this meeting. The review of all SUP applications are carried out in a quasi-judicial format meaning that decisions relating to the approval or denial of an application are based solely on the sworn testimony of all parties involved with the case, both those for and against an application, as well as the review of competent material and substantial evidence submitted during the public hearing.
