1
ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT
Meeting Date:May 19, 2015
Action Agenda
Item No.6-e
SUBJECT:
Authorization to Declare an ItemSurplus
DEPARTMENT:PUBLIC HEARING: (N)No
Asset Management Services
and Solid Waste Management
ATTACHMENT(S):INFORMATION CONTACT:
Jeff Thompson, 245-2658
Maintenance Supervisor MemorandumGayle Wilson, 968-2788
PURPOSE:
To consider declaring a RecyclingDivision Roll-off Truck/Asset Number 1681 as surplus.
BACKGROUND:
The Director of Asset Management Services is authorized to declare items surplus up
to $5,000. Currently the Solid Waste Department has the following vehiclethat is nolonger needed and
therefore needs to be sold. Itis anticipated itwill exceed the $5,000threshold.
Asset
Equipment YearSerial/VIN
Number
Roll Off Truck20071681
1FVHALCG37DX46685
Originally, it was planned to surplus the truck listed below(Asset #1779), and itwas approved to be
surplused by the Board of Commissioners at itsDecember 9, 2014 meeting. Since thattime, due to
delays in receiving new equipment and an untimely breakdown, vehicle #1779 has undergone significant
repairs making it a more reliable backup vehicle than vehicle #1681 (above). Therefore staff plans to
continue utilizing Asset #1779 in the recyclingdivision fleet.
Asset
Equipment YearSerial/VIN
Number
Roll Off Truck20091779
1FVHALCK79DAL7350
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Proceeds from the sale ofthis item(#1681), less any applicable fees, will be
returned to the Solid Waste Enterprise Fund.
RECOMMENDATION(S)
The Manager recommends thatthe Board: 1) declare Roll Off Truck/Asset
:
Number 1681 as surplus and 2) authorize the AMS Director to affect thesale of the itemthrough
GovDeals.
