<br />1 <br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date:May 19, 2015 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No.4-c <br />SUBJECT: <br />Orange County Direct Care Worker Awards <br />DEPARTMENT:PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N)No <br />Aging and Advisory Board on <br />Aging <br />ATTACHMENT(S):INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Janice Tyler, Director, 245-4255 <br />PURPOSE: <br />Torecognize the winners of the Orange County Direct Care Worker Awards. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />As part of the Orange County 2012-17 Master Aging Plan, the Department on <br />Aging was asked to develop a mechanism to help increase the quality of care provided in <br />Orange County long-term care facilities and home care organizations. This past September the <br />Board of Commissionersrecognized organizations who were winners of the Orange County <br />Long Term Care Quality Service Awards. TheseDirect Care Worker Awards areto recognize <br />those dedicated individuals who work in long term care, includingnurse aides, personal care <br />aides, companion caregivers etc., who have provided outstanding service to Orange County <br />residents. <br />The Department on Aging partnered with the Senior Health Advocacy and Resource Partners of <br />Orange County (SHARP) to recognize these workers who, on a daily basis, have an effect on <br />their clients’ lives and make a difference in thecommunity. Each year six awards will be <br />presented one in each of five categories and one person will be chosen as “Direct Care Worker <br />of the Year”. <br />2015 Direct Care Worker Award Winners <br />Client Impact <br /> - Frequently recognized or praised for their efforts that make an impact on the <br />quality of their clients lives. <br />Winners <br />- There was a tie for this award. <br />Anita Aiken – Livewell Assisted Living <br />John Ferris – Charles House Association <br /> <br />
