<br />1 <br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date:May 12, 2015 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No.1 <br />SUBJECT: <br /> Presentation on Orange County Partnership to End Homelessness 2015 Plan <br />to End Homelessness <br />DEPARTMENT:PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) <br />ManagerNo <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Jamie Rohe,919-245-2496 <br />Orange County Partnership to End <br />Homelessness2015 Plan to End <br />Homelessness <br />2015 Calculation of Unmet Need for Housing <br />for People Experiencing Homelessness <br />PURPOSE: <br />To receive information about the Orange County Partnership to End Homelessness <br />(OCPEH) 2015 Plan to End Homelessness and the 2015 Calculation of Unmet Need for <br />Housingfor People Experiencing Homelessness. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The OCPEHis a coalition of housing and service providers, local government <br />and community members working together to endand prevent homelessness in Orange County. <br />The Partnership’sPlan to End Homelessness is continually evolving to reflect evidence-based <br />practices and changes in homelessness in thecommunity. <br />The OCPEH 2015 Plan to End Homelessness incorporates the overarching goals ofthe <br />Department of Housing and Urban Development’s “Federal Strategic Plan to Prevent and End <br />Homelessness”: <br />1.Set a path to ending all types of homelessness; <br />2.Finish the job of ending chronic homelessness by 2017; <br />3.Prevent and end homelessness among veterans by 2016; <br />4.Prevent and end homelessness for families, youth and children by 2020. <br />All agencies that receive federal funding for homelessness programs arerequired to enterdata <br />into thenational“Homeless Management Information System”(HMIS)database. North Carolina <br />switched to a new HMIS administrator thisyear and staffanticipatesthatdata quality and <br />completeness will greatly improve.This willenable all involvednot only to be able to <br />understand the scale and nature ofhomelessness in thecommunity, but also to use data to <br />evaluate program performance and to inform funding decisions. <br /> <br />
