Proclamations/ Resolutions/ Special Presentations <br /> a. Women's History Month Proclamation <br /> The Board considered adopting the Proclamation proclaiming the month of March 2015 <br /> as "Women's History Month" and authorizing the Chair to sign. <br /> Chair McKee noted that Commissioner Price had presented a revised proclamation, as <br /> provided at their places, and it would be best to decide which proclamation to use. <br /> Commissioner Price said that she had made some grammatical changes and had also <br /> added the word "faith" into the proclamation, because women of all faiths have participated in <br /> the various movements mentioned in the document. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Price, seconded by Commissioner Jacobs to <br /> replace the proclamation in their agenda packet with the revised proclamation by <br /> Commissioner Price. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> Vanessa Soleil read the revised proclamation as follows: <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH PROCLAMATION <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange County Human Relations Commission has diligently served the <br /> County of Orange since 1987, and is committed to promoting the equal treatment of all <br /> individuals; and <br /> WHEREAS, women of every race, ethnicity, class and faith have made historic contributions to <br /> the growth and strength of our County in countless ways, recorded and unrecorded; and <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County women have played and continue to play a critical role in the <br /> economic, cultural, and social spheres of the life of the County ; and <br /> WHEREAS, women of every race, ethnicity, class and faith served as early leaders in the <br /> forefront of every major progressive social change movement; and <br /> WHEREAS, women have been leaders in securing their own rights of suffrage <br /> and equal opportunity, and also in the abolitionist movement, the emancipation movement, the <br /> industrial labor movement, the civil rights movement, and other movements, especially the <br /> peace movement, which create a more fair and just society for all; and <br /> WHEREAS, despite these contributions, the role of women in history consistently has been <br /> overlooked and undervalued in the literature, teaching and study of American history; and <br />
