We hope that this process will not only be transparent
but lead to all-encompassing frameworks, protections and service products for those
who are disenfranchised and impoverished in Orange County. The socio/economic
values we subscribe to as anon-profit organization include the county's means to
promote living wages, quality health care, affordable housing, social equity, .
affordable childcare, inclusionary zoning, community education, rural.water and
wastewater options, mental health services -ail necessary for a sustainable
community.
IFC representatives have bean actively involved with the Orange Gounfy
Comprehensive Plan Coalition, an impressive group of diverse partners who
want to learn more about the county's planning process, wrestle with its various
intricacies and learn about collaborative ways to provide greater input for many
of the improvements that are needed. Our Board of Directors officially endorsed
the coalition's vision statement at its August 15, 2007 meeting.
The IFC continues to be on the cutting edge of addressing multifaceted
socioleconomic disparities and service gaps in Orange County. Jo(ning a wider
federation of community partners has helped us to learn about the planning process,
find some common ground with a diverse group of organizations and learn how to
impact community policies For the betterment of those we represent. Coalition
discussions have been valuable for us. Different organizational values and points of
view have been shared and well received. Our understanding and appreciation of the
county's planning process has improved with our association and we are very
interes#ed in educating others about hQw a new Comprehensive Plan will have a
tremendous impact on all of ils who live and wbrk in Orange County. Do not hesitate
to contacf me about IFC's participation or any of these matters.
Si~ncperely,
1:t._--_
Chris Moran, Executive Director
Inter-Faith Council for Social Service
Giving help and hope to those (n need
11o W.
