15 <br />®range County Comprehensive Plan Update Public Input Meeting <br />April 23, 2008 7:OOpm - 9:OOpm <br />Exchange Club, Iiillsborough, NC <br />Summary Report <br />Staff Note: This summary report has been posted on-line on the Comprehensive Plan <br />Update website (http://www.co.orange.nc.us/planning/compre_cpupdate.asp) and will be <br />included in the Board of County Commissioners and Planning Board's agenda packet for <br />the May 19th Joint Quarter Public Hearing. <br />Approximately twenty-five people attended the Public Input Meeting, including members <br />of the public, staff, and board members. Gardy, Ann Gardy, Tom Soranno, Jolu1 McAulay, Karen <br />McAulay, Bi11 Reid <br />®range County Staff Present: Craig Benedict, Tom .Alfieri, Karen Lincoln, Karen <br />Markovics, Perdita Holtz, Kate Lowe, and Andy Sachs, Dispute Settlement Center, Inc. <br />MEETING N®TES <br />Welcome and Introductions: Andy Sachs welcomed everyone to the meeting. <br />Staff Presentation: <br />- Tom Alfieri, Comprehensive Planning Supervisor, made a presentation and in general <br />conveyed the following: The purpose of tonight's meeting is to snake sure attendees <br />understand what is. in the draft plan, how it was generated, and to provide an opportunity <br />for additional public input. The meeting is also to inform the public how to participate in <br />the public hearing for the Board of County Commissioners on May 19. <br />-The purpose of the plan is to provide a long range decision malting framework for the <br />county. The plan will guide future growth and development and serve as a statutory basis <br />for land use regulations in the county. Zoning ordinances should be consistent with the <br />Comprehensive plan. <br />- The scope of the plan extends through the year 2030, which is as far as a population <br />projection can be made with a reasonable degree of accuracy. This does not mean the <br />plan won't be revisited until 2030. The plan focuses on Orange County's planning <br />jurisdiction -area outside municipalities and their ETJs. <br />
